Travel Safety

This safety course equips the participants to be able to plan and carry out travel activities and stays in medium-risk countries. The course is primarily aimed at anyone who has travel activity in medium-risk countries and is popular among private and public organisations as well as individuals with travel activity.

Description

One of our core solutions is our popular and well-known Travel Safety course.

The course intends to encourage travellers to be more aware of the personal responsibility for their safety and security when conducting business travel. Our Travel Safety course aims to promote a culture where business travel risk is taken seriously, resourced adequately, and managed effectively, and where the benefits to the organisation and relevant employees are recognised.

It’s too late to educate travellers after something has gone wrong when travelling. Effective preparation before business travel takes place is essential, so that travellers know whom to contact - and how - should an emergency arise. It also makes sense for business travellers to be made aware of the procedures in preparation for travel, thereby avoiding the potential for unnecessary concern and confusion.

During the training, both the inexperienced and experienced traveller will be given concrete and easy-to-use tools on how to mitigate potential risks and handle different types of critical incidents, including everything from issues with authorities to natural disasters. The training builds upon scientific content and more than two decades of operative experience within the security industry and travelling to foreign environments to add value to employees associated with travel.

Target group

The training is designed and delivered to ensure travellers, and individuals with the responsibility for organising travel, travel risk management, and travel assistance can fulfil their responsibilities. The course is applicable for a wide range of participants, from media professionals, charities, international non-governmental organisations, and national/international governmental stakeholders to all companies who find their employees travelling frequently.

Purpose and objectives

While the acute phase of Covid-19 might appear to be over, other significant risks remain for the business traveller and their employers, who are ultimately responsible for employees’ health, safety, and well-being. From cybercrime and natural disasters to civil unrest, terrorism, and mental health, there are many evolving risks which should be factored in before, during, and after any business trip. The content of the training is formed to meet requirements and recommendations for a wide range of travel destinations and gives tools to specific risk treatment requirements for the assessed risks in those areas.

Key learning objectives – at the end of the course the participants will:

  • Be able to take responsibility for own safety and security when planning and executing business travel.

  • Have the knowledge to understand cultural and ethical aspects of behaviour that minimise the likelihood of offending other cultures, being exposed to crime, or inadvertently committing crimes.

  • Apply concrete knowledge and skills, so that if an incident should occur, they are able to de-escalate, find places of safety, and seek help.

  • Be informed and aware of personal and proprietary information protection, risk of social engineering, and espionage during business travel.

  • Be able to determine the advantages and disadvantages of impending actions and, thereby act appropriately in unknown and critical situations.

Teaching and study methods

Taxonomic structure:
Our well-tested learning process builds around a learning structure that forms bridges between the different topics throughout the course. The learning structure ensures that the participant can implement and share their own experiences and tailor the content to a relevant travel pattern. We test the participants' newly gained skills and knowledge in exercises and small practical activities throughout the training.

The individual in focus:
The material and learning objectives focus on helping the individual to gain knowledge and skills. The individual course participant learns by participating in interactive group work, to create dialogue and reflection. The intention is to get the individual participant to engage and commit to the learning process through communication and cooperation with the other participants. By having this approach, we provide the opportunity for knowledge and experience sharing, to achieve greater depth in the learning outcome.
